I have a small spiked wooden ball I call my happy thought. Whenever I cling to my happy thought I notice it is quite painful and the tighter I hold on to it the more painful it becomes. Eventually I must let go of my happy thought to let the pain subside. But alas after sitting for a while I get a twinkle in my eye. Because I know I will just pick up my happy thought again.

Life is pain. It is in the embracing of one's pain that the path is opened to grow. To understand the source of one's pain is to know how to control it. To grow through it. To see the 2 paths that diverge from it.

Pain is the sheppard of our lives.
